Liposuction is also known as Lipoplasty, Liposculpture, Lipectomy or Lipo.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove stubborn fat deposits from selected areas of the body including the Abdomen, Back, Waist, Hips, Legs, Thighs, Buttocks, Knees, Ankles, Arms, Neck, Chin, Jowls and Male Breasts (Gynecomastia).
We offer both Ultrasonic liposuction and traditional tumescent liposuction depending on the needs of the individual.
Understanding the procedure:
Our surgeons use an ultrasonic form of liposuction to both reduce trauma and the formation of wavy areas of fat tissue after the procedure. This can reduce post operative pain and give a more natural, toned result. The fat is removed via a cannula (a hollow tube) and aspirator (a suction device). Recent advances in liposuction include the use of ultrasonic liposuction, where ultrasonic sound waves are used to help break up the fat and power-assisted liposuction (wherein a motorised cannula vibrates in order to pass through the tissues more easily). As the cannula passes through the fat cells, that energy liquefies the fat cells, which are then suctioned out. The ultrasound can be administered either above the skin (with a special emitter) or below the surface of the skin (with an ultrasound cannula).
